COVID-19 Vaccination Access in Chicago's Greater Humboldt Park and Latino Community:
The Puerto Rican Agenda alongside our community partners at The Puerto Rican Cultural Center, Pastora Emma Lozano of Centro Sin Fronteras, Jose Sanchez, President and CEO of Humboldt Park Health, and Dr. Aida Giachello, Research Professor at Northwestern and Chair of the Health Committee of the Puerto Rican Agenda, joined by Congressman Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, State Senator Ivan Aquino, State Representative Delia C. Ramirez and Alderman Roberto Maldonado will convene virtually to address issues pertaining to COVID-19 access and education in Latino communities in the Greater Humboldt Park Communities including parts of West Town, Logan Square, and Hermosa Park. As the Office of the Mayor and City of Chicago prepare to address the organization and allocation of the COVID-19 vaccine in Chicago’s Latino communities, The Puerto Rican Agenda urges the City and Mayor Lightfoot to join the 4-Point model to vaccinate, educate, and make Humboldt Park Health the vaccination hub for the Greater Humboldt Park communities that have been left out of the City’s vaccination plans.
Disasters are often, outside disaster studies, viewed as singularities. This characterization of disaster disallows analysis of racial violence and dispossession structurally instituted across multiple disasters. As a result, repeatedly poor pre‐disaster and post‐disaster planning is leveraged to displace and disenfranchise marginalized communities.
Help to determine the cultural priorities and programming that speak to the interests of your community.
